Seeking a PhD Student Interested in Occupational Biomechanics Research
The Biomechanics and Ergonomics Labs at Queen’s University and Nipissing University (both located in Ontario, Canada) are offering a co-funded PhD position in the area of occupational biomechanics starting in September 2015. The PhD student will be offered the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge as they learn to apply musculoskeletal modeling approaches to address specific research questions in the area of occupational biomechanics. The student will take courses at and receive their degree from Queen’s University, but will split time between the two labs for research purposes.
Applicants will have completed a Master’s degree with an emphasis on biomechanics, ergonomics, motor control/neuroscience, or training in a related field. Preferred candidates will have experience using Matlab, and/or Visual 3D, and/or OpenSim or equivalent.
Both laboratories are equipped with Qualisys motion capture systems, in-ground and portable force plates, portable 6-dof force transducers, and Delsys EMG systems. Additionally the PhD student will have access to a Motek instrumented dual belt force sensing treadmill, and a Humac NORM Dynamometer. Available software includes: Matlab, Visual 3D Professional, Labview, Dartfish, SPSS, and Delmia V6.
