Dear All,
We have an open Post-Doctoral position in Bone Biomechanics (Musculoskeletal Research with animal study) at the University of Sheffield.
This is an excellent research opportunity within the Department of Human Metabolism at the University of Sheffield to collaborate with the department of Mechanical Engineering as part of the INSIGNEO institute.
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research scientist who is committed to working in the area of in vivo models for the musculoskeletal system.
You will work in an interdisciplinary environment with experts in engineering, biology and medicine.
Your research activity will contribute to a £6.7M Frontier Engineering grant aimed at developing a new modelling framework for the human musculoskeletal system.
In particular, you will focus on the development of experimental and imaging techniques for an in vivo murine loading model.
The data obtained will be used for the validation of in silico models developed in the consortium.
You should hold a PhD in Bone Biomechanics or similar, be familiar with in vivo loading models, in vivo imaging and generation and validation of in silico models.
The post-holder will report to Prof Tim Skerry and Dr Enrico Dall’Ara in the department of Human Metabolism.
You will also become part of a leading research team in the field of musculoskeletal biomechanics and biology with the opportunity to perform state of the art research, participating to national and international conferences and publishing in the best journals.
You should be motivated and capable of effective time management, meeting deadlines for project deliverables and disseminating the scientific results in international journals.
Effective written and verbal communication skills are required along with experience in report writing and delivering presentations.
This post is fixed-term and full-time with a start date of 1 March 2014 and an end date of 31 August 2016 (with possible further extension for 2 years).
