    The Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick (Canada) is seeking a highly qualified, motivated and practical individual for a post-doctoral research position in control of multi-function prosthetic/orthotic devices. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary team that includes scientists, clinicians, and engineers (including an in-house prosthetics clinic specializing in complex upper limb cases) that is focused on improving clinically and commercially viable prostheses. With the support of the faculty investigators, the fellow will be expected to take a leadership role and work independently in experimental design, data collection, data analysis, and publication. The fellow have the opportunity to interact with patients on a regular basis, co-supervise graduate students, and will be encouraged to develop independent research expertise and areas.

    The ideal candidate should possess:
    · A recently completed PhD in biomedical, mechanical, or electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
    · Strong expertise in data collection and analysis, signal processing, controls, pattern recognition and machine learning
    · Experimental design experience and experience collecting electrophysiological signals, and/or other biomechanical measurements from human subjects.
    · Experience in the design and development of clinical testing of prosthetic devices, orthoses, and/or other movement augmentation.
    · Evidence of scholarship (peer-reviewed publications)
    · Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

    The fellow will be joining a state of the art laboratory that includes a working research prosthetics clinic, commercial and custom EMG systems, ultrasound, a 3D motion capture system, in ground force plates, and more. The position is guaranteed for one year with an option for an additional year. The position is available immediately.
