EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY (TENURE-TRACK)
The School of Physical and Health Education invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure track-position at the Assistant professor level at our North Bay Campus.
The School of Physical and Health Education at Nipissing University is housed in the newly built Centre for Physical and Health Education with four state-of-the art funded research labs: 1) Exercise Physiology, 2) Biomechanics and Ergonomics, 3) Sensory-Movement Behaviour, and 4) Psychology of Physical Activity and Health Promotion. Research infrastructure in the laboratories includes a temperature-, humidity-, and oxygen-controlled environmental chamber, a dual-belt instrumented treadmill, multiple motion-capture systems, metabolic carts, velotron cycle ergometers, near-infrared spectroscopy, wireless electromyography, force platforms, and blood sampling equipment.
The successful candidate must have a PhD with interest and experience in Exercise Physiology or an equivalent discipline. Evidence of a strong research program with emphasis on, but not limited to, exercise or work physiology, clinical exercise physiology, exercise prescription and assessment, environmental physiology, cardiovascular/respiratory physiology, muscle biochemistry, and/or exercise nutrition and metabolism. Duties include research, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and supervising graduate students.
Successful candidates are expected to have a strong portfolio of scholarly research, including peer-reviewed publications, and provide evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and obtaining external funding. In addition to advancing a personal research program, candidates will have the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team engaged physical and health education and kinesiology research. We welcome applicants from a broad range of fields including, but not limited to kinesiology, physiology, rehabilitation, and related health sciences. Post-doctoral experience or equivalent would be an advantage.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment will be effective July 1 2015, subject to final budgetary approval.
