  • PhD in musculoskeletal biomechanics at Liverpool John Moores University, UK

A fully funded PhD studentship is available at Liverpool John Moores University in partnership with Minerva Research Labs.

This project will integrate muscle-tendon mechanics with whole body performance including stair gait analysis. The aims are to 1) establish relationships between muscle-tendon properties and physical function in young adults and the elderly, and 2) determine the effectiveness of collagen-based nutritional supplements developed by Minerva Research Labs for improving muscle and tendon, and whole-body function.

We are seeking excellent candidates from human movement or health and exercise sciences, or other bio-engineering related disciplines. Expertise in biomechanics is essential and an understanding of nutrition science is advantageous. Experience with ultrasound imaging and motion analysis will be favoured. It is essential that candidates can demonstrate the personal skills to recruit older participants within the community and maintain engagement throughout long interventions.
