Postdoctoral Position - Neural plasticity after spinal cord injury

A post-doctoral fellowship is available in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Emory University Medical School under the direction of Dr. Randy D Trumbower. This position is funded through active grants from the Department of Defense and NIH (R01) to study the plasticity-inducing effects of intermittent hypoxia training on sensorimotor recovery in persons with spinal injury. Research goals are being addressed through a combination of human experimentation and physiological modeling.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: neuromechanics, clinical neurophysiology, robotics and/or the neural control of movement. Strong quantitative and experimental skills are required. The position is available for two years with an option to renew provided that adequate progress is made and that the project funding is continued.

The work will be conducted in an interdisciplinary research environment composed of physiologists, clinicians, neuroscientists, and biomedical engineers. In addition to the primary research program, there will be a number of opportunities to interact and collaborate with faculty in the Emory University Division of Physical Therapy, Emory Neuroscience Program, Georgia Tech School of Applied Physiology and Department of Biomedical Engineering, as well as, the Shepherd Center.

Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae, a 1-page research statement, and three references by August 1, 2015. Applications should be sent to:
