  • Lab Engineer Position (Emory and Georgia Tech, Atlanta GA)

A laboratory engineering position is available in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Emory University Medical School under the direction of Dr. Randy D Trumbower. This position is funded through active grants from the Department of Defense and NIH (R01) to study the plasticity-inducing effects of intermittent hypoxia training on sensorimotor recovery in persons with spinal injury. Research goals are being addressed through human experimentation with electromyography, motion capture, force sensing technology, and robotics.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: computer programming skills (i.e., matlab, C++, Android app development) and feedback control systems. Quantitative and experimental skills in human movement science are favorable. The position is available for two years with an option to renew provided that adequate progress is made and that the project funding is continued.

The work will be conducted in an interdisciplinary research environment composed of physiologists, clinicians, neuroscientists, and engineers. In addition to the primary research program, there will be a number of opportunities to interact and collaborate with faculty in the Emory University Division of Physical Therapy, Emory Neuroscience Program, Georgia Tech School of Computing and Engineering, as well as, the Shepherd Center.

Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae and three references by August 1, 2015. Applications should be sent to:
