    Job Description: The individual will work as a research lab technician / research coordinator / postdoc at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. The candidate will primarily assist with data collection and data processing for human research experiments Emory University’s motion analysis research lab. The candidate will be trained in specialized software and hardware utilized within Emory’s Motion Analysis Lab, enabling him/her to provide valuable assistance with human research experiments (able-bodied individuals and people with post-stroke hemiparesis) involving 3-dimensional analyses of gait data. The candidate will also be expected to assist with other experimental procedures including neurophysiologic assessments of cortical excitability using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and spinal excitability using peripheral nerve electrical stimulation. Furthermore, the candidate may also assist with recruitment, initial screening, and scheduling of research study participants, in addition to managing IRB documentation and protocols. The individual will have the opportunity to train undergraduate and physical therapy students completing research within the lab. This position provides opportunities for gaining valuable hands-on experience with human subject research involving gait analysis as well as cortical and spinal electrophysiology. The candidate will have access to state-of-the-art research equipment, and will receive training from several Emory PT faculty.

    Qualifications: We are seeking an individual with an undergraduate or master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanics, Neuroscience, or Physiology. The position can also be converted to a post-doc opening, if appropriate and qualified candidates are interested. Experience with computer programming (e.g. Matlab and/or LabVIEW) is desirable. Previous research experience and strong inter-personal skills will be highly valuable. This is a full-time position, with benefits provided by Emory University.
