The University of Potsdam, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Division of Training and Movement Sciences is seeking to fill the following position:
Academic Staff Member (Requisition No.: 170/2015)

Founded in 1991, the University of Potsdam has firmly established itself within the scientific landscape. Nationally and internationally renowned scientists research and teach here at the largest university in Brandenburg. The University of Potsdam is successful in acquiring third-party funds, it demonstrates outstanding performance in technology and knowledge transfer, and it has a very service-oriented administration. Around 20,000 young people study at five faculties located within the university's three campuses (Am Neuen Palais, Griebnitzsee and Golm). Responsibilities:
The person appointed will be expected to contribute to a research program that was recently funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) entitled “Effects of modality mappings within working memory on postural control, associated neural correlates, and training-induced modulation of dual-task performance in old age”. This project is part of the DFG priority program SPP 1772 “Human performance under multiple cognitive task requirements: From basic mechanisms to optimized task schedulings”. Research will include the set-up of dual-task experiments in our laboratory and dual-task training in our gym, data collection and processing as well as the presentation and publication of study findings. Data collection and analyses include the following testing methods: kinematics (e.g., opto-electric systems, motion analysis systems), kinetics (e.g., force plates), and electrophysiological testing devices (i.e., surface electromyography, electroencephalography). The successful applicant will be able to present information on research findings and outcomes including writing of scientific articles, and communicate complex information. Teaching is not required.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD degree and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and publication skills within the discipline (i.e., Training and/or Movement Sciences, Neurosciences, Cognitive Sciences) and of research methods and techniques to work within the research program. More specifically, applicants will be able to contribute to collecting and analyzing kinematic, kinetic, electrophysiological data and conduct dual-task balance training. Proficient English language skills are required.

The University of Potsdam strives to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and specifically encourages female applicants to apply for this position.
