The Department of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences at San DiegoState University (SDSU) would like to invite applications for our new masters level program in Kinesiology with a specialization in Applied Movement Science.
Applied Movement Science is a growing, interdisciplinary field that focuses on the measurement and evaluation of human function, and its relation to fitness, disability and rehabilitation. This program delivers a unique combination of biomechanical, motor control and exercise physiology principles aimed at preparing professionals for a diverse set of health and fitness-related careers. In particular, our program emphases clinical research including the development of “hands on” data acquisition/analysis skills for the assessment of motor performance in health and sport/exercise-related environments. This degree can serve as both an entry point into clinical research positions, or as preparation for doctorate degrees in kinesiology, physical therapy or other rehabilitation science-based graduate programs. Faculty is broad based including high level researchers from the disciplines of biomechanics, sensorimotor neuroscience, motor control and rehabilitation sciences.
Funding in the form of teaching assistantships is available for qualified applicants upon acceptance into the program. A limited number of research assistantships are also available with associated faculty.
Founded in 1897, SDSU boasts a student population of ~31,000 with degrees in over 150 areas.
