  • Research Associate: FE analysis of revision knee replacement

We are looking for a Masters or recently graduated PhD researcher with a background in finite element and orthopaedic biomechanics to fill a three year, fixed term contract within the Medical Device Research Institute, Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia.

    Description of position:
The Research Associate will develop computer aided engineering tools to evaluate theperformance of revision knee joint replacement. The project aims to develop a library of finite element models of pre-revision knees, which can be used to assess current and future revision knee replacement designs. The Research Associate will be responsible for developing a computational modelling pipeline to establish the performance of existing designs of revision knee replacement, as well as evaluate the behaviour of new designs early in the design cycle. The project is funded by a South Australian Premiers Research and Infrastructure grant, in collaboration with DePuy Synthes, and the Research Associate will work closely with the industrial partner.

ORGANISATIONAL ENVIRONMENT: The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team at the Medical Device Research Institute who share a common interest in bone biomechanics, implants, human motion, and imaging within the School of Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematics. The research fellow will join a team of computational based researchers working on orthopaedic biomechanics problems. The School of Computer Science, Engineering & Mathematics is a dynamic and growing School. The School has embarked on an ambitious growth of its engineering awards and has recentlymoved to a new $120M building at Tonsley.
