The Muscle Function + Locomotion Laboratory and the Biomechanics Laboratory (Kinesiology Department) at Penn State University invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Position. Our group investigates the biomechanics and energetics of legged locomotion using experimental and computational approaches. The project focuses on mechanisms of locomotor adaptation and optimization in humans and in an animal (avian) bipedal model.
Work will be performed primarily in the group of Dr. Jonas Rubenson with opportunities to interact in collaborative research with Prof. Stephen Piazza, Biomechanics Laboratory, Penn State.
Candidates should have a PhD degree in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, kinesiology, biology/physiology/zoology, or a related field. We seek candidates experienced in animal research with a strong biomechanical background, or those with a background in the physical sciences/engineering interested in exploring experimental/ in vivo biomechanics. Strong technical skills including MATLAB programming and experience with motion analysis, in vivo instrumentation and/or computational biomechanics is highly desirable.
The appointment is for two years and extendable based on performance and funding.
If you are interested, please send an email including your CV, selected publications and a short list of references to Jonas Rubenson: jonas@psu.edu
