  • TWO Tenured or Tenure Track Professors in Biomedical Engineering at WPI, Worcester MA

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) invites applications for two tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) (www.wpi.edu/+BME).

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in BME or a closely related field. We especially encourage applicants with an expertise in biomanufacturing, precision medicine, neural prosthetics/engineering, wearable/smart sensors, or other areas that synergize with our existing research areas (cellular/tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, biomechanics, biomaterials, bioinstrumentation, and imaging). We are looking for individuals who value creativity, diversity, inclusion, and collaboration. The BME department expects faculty to be involved in a balance of research, teaching, and service, including formal teaching, as well as mentoring student projects at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral level.

The Department delivers a vibrant ABET-accredited undergraduate BME program with approximately 420 undergraduate and 50 graduate students pursuing MS, MEng, and Ph.D. degrees. The BME department also houses several programs such as an NSF IGERT with the mission of training leaders in Biofabrication and an NSF REU program focused on training female and underrepresented minority students. The BME Department is housed in the WPI Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center at Gateway Park (www.wpi.edu/Admin/LSBC/index.html), a state-of-the art, mixed-use research facility dedicated to biomedical and life sciences research.
WPI, founded in 1865 and located one hour west of Boston, is one of the nation’s oldest technological universities. WPI is a highly selective private university with an undergraduate student body of over 4,000 and 1,900 full-time and part-time graduate students. Its innovative project-enriched curriculum engages students and faculty in real-world problem solving, often at one of WPI’s global project centers. U.S. News and World Report consistently ranks WPI among the top 100 national universities and College Factual – USA Today, lists WPI in the top 5 Best Engineering Schools in the U.S.

Applicants should submit a current curriculum vitae, complete publication list, a statement summarizing teaching experience and research interests and leadership, and names and email addresses for at least five references. Materials may be submitted via https://careers.wpi.edu/postings/2912
