The Department of Kinesiology at Temple University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position (open-rank) in the area of Sensorimotor Neuroscience. Candidates will be expected to maintain a robust, externally funded research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Candidates hired at the associate and full professor ranks will be expected to provide effective mentoring for trainees at the graduate and post-doctoral levels. The successful candidate will have an active research program in one or more of the following areas: 1) Traumatic brain injury; 2) Vestibular function and oculo-motor control; 3) Neuromotor Rehabilitation.
The undergraduate program in the Kinesiology department is comprised of exercise science and pre-health professions. There are four graduate programs in the Department. As part of the College’s emphasis on interdisciplinary education, the Departments of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy collaborate on a joint MS and PhD in Neuromotor Science. Kinesiology faculty members actively collaborate with researchers and clinicians at Temple University School of Medicine and Temple Hospital as well as Department of Bioengineering. The Department's facilities have been under a major renovation to expand research and classroom facilities, and faculty in the department have secured over $2.5 million in externally funded research support. This includes the recently completed NeRVE (Neuromotor Rehabilitation and Virtual Environment) laboratories, consisting of 7 laboratories housing physical therapists, neuroscientists, biomechanists, engineers, mathematicians and kinesiologists dedicated to the understanding of human movement and associated neurological disorders.
The College of Public Health, a constellation of nine academic units of public health, health profession and social work disciplines, enrolls almost 5,000 students. The College has seen remarkable growth and organizational expansion in the shape and configuration of programs, research profile, increase in rankings, and collaboration with other academic units. In 2014, the College ranked 2nd of the 17 colleges/schools at Temple in research expenditures. The College’s innovative research focuses on medical interventions, social, behavioral, and environmental inquiries, and basic science sponsored by NIH, NSF, and other major federal funders as well as foundations. Under the leadership of Dean Laura Siminoff, a public health social scientist continuously funded by NIH for 25 years, CPH is hiring 50 faculty to join the 160 faculty across its academic disciplines.

Desired Qualifications. Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Rehabilitation Science, Neuroscience, Engineering or related biological science. Post-doctoral training (or equivalent professional experience) in a relevant field of research is preferred. At the rank of Assistant Professor, the ideal candidate will have published in high-quality journals and demonstrated potential to secure extramural research funding, mentor graduate students, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of sensorimotor neuroscience that complement existing curricular offerings. At the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, the successful candidate will have published in high quality, high impact journals, outstanding records of consistent and ongoing extramural research funding, experience in mentoring trainees at the graduate and/or postdoctoral levels and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Salary, rank, and tenure status will be commensurate with credentials and experience. The College offers highly competitive start-up packages and salaries.
