The School of Exercise & Nutritional Sciences at San Diego State University invites applications for the position of School Director to begin in Fall of 2016.
Responsibilities: Provide effective leadership and management for the School, including program planning, curriculum oversight and development; and fostering faculty members’ research, procurement of external funding, and teaching efforts. Provide leadership in and across academic units and promote collaborations with scholars within and outside of the School, across the University and with community clinical partners. Pursue activities that enhance the reputation of the School, generate funding, and attract high-quality students and researchers. Provide innovative leadership to faculty members and students to promote and foster the School’s mission.
Qualifications: Applicants must hold an earned PhD in Exercise or Nutritional Sciences or closely related discipline. A record of leadership showing interpersonal skills and organizational ability across diverse academic programs, a strong research background and funding record with recognized professional accomplishments in relevant areas, and a commitment to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels are required. The research and educational track records of applicants must merit an appointment at the Full Professor level. Applicants should have demonstrated excellence in promoting collaboration and partnership across the College, University, and Community and possess an appreciation of diversity and an ability to work effectively in a multicultural campus and community setting. Applicants should have experience in the development and management of academic research programs, budget management, and building and fostering the growth of faculty members’ research and teaching efforts in health promotion and disease/injury prevention and rehabilitation, as related to Exercise and Nutritional Sciences.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Environment: Exercise and Nutritional Sciences is one of seven schools in the College of Health and Human Services at San Diego State University with accredited clinical programs in Athletic Training and Physical Therapy. The School offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Kinesiology, Athletic Training, and Foods and Nutrition, Master of Science degrees in Exercise Physiology, Nutrition, Applied Movement Sciences, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
