    (Morgantown, WV)
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is recruiting for the position of Branch Chief for the Engineering and Control Technology Branch (ECTB) in the Health Effects Laboratory Division (HELD), located in Morgantown, West Virginia. NIOSH is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Department of Health and Human Services. NIOSH is the federal agency that researches and recommends ways to prevent work-related injury and illness. The Institute is geographically distributed in multiple locations across the United States with approximately 1,250 multidisciplinary staff. The HELD laboratories located in Morgantown, WV use basic and applied research studies to find causes of work-related disease and injury. The Branch Chief directs a staff of researchers, and provides oversight of their individual research assignments and of research programs designed to detect, analyze and alleviate adverse health effects due to workplace exposures. Biomechanical, in vivo and in vitro studies in the development of disease/dysfunctions, mechanisms of action, and early markers of exposure, injury, and disease are conducted within HELD.
    • The Engineering and Control Technology Branch (ECTB) conducts research that provides workers, employers, researchers, occupational health practitioners, manufacturers, and those responsible for the dissemination of guidelines and standards with the capability to better assess and understand the relationship between work activities and worker health. Current research programs include development and evaluation of interventions for reducing hand-arm vibration exposure, musculoskeletal biomechanics, as well as other emerging issues in engineering and control technology.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a globally respected Laboratory with world-class researchers.
