The Center for Advanced Orthopaedic Studies at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to participate in research examining thoracic spine kinematics and the effects of aging and hyperkyphosis on in vivo spine motion and loading.
Candidates should have a PhD in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, biomechanics, kinesiology, or other relevant field. The candidate must have experience in biomechanical testing of human subjects, including motion capture and electromyography. Strong candidates will have expertise and research interests in one or more of the following areas: spine biomechanics, musculoskeletal modeling, image analysis methods and/or aging. Candidates should have excellent writing and oral presentation skills, and be able to work independently as well as with an interdisciplinary team.
The position is available to begin in late 2015 or early 2016, and responses received by October 31, 2015 will be given full consideration. The initial appointment will be for 1 year with the possibility of extension.
