10 month faculty position Assistant, Associate or Full Professor

The School of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training is inviting applications for full time, ten-month tenure track position(s) in the professional preparation Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program with opportunity to participate in an interprofessional PhD Program in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation. We are committed to maintaining a diverse and stable faculty. Successful applicants will have teaching and research responsibilities in content areas that match the applicant’s scholarship and departmental needs. Other responsibilities include advising and mentoring graduate students and taking an active role in department and university service and professional development. Rank commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Old Dominion University is a residential and research-extensive public institution with a total student enrollment of 25,000, approximately 6,000 of whom are graduate students. One third of the students are from minority backgrounds and over 1,100 are international students from 94 countries. Old Dominion University has a diverse faculty of over 750, of which 40% are women. The School of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training currently supports a DPT program, an MSAT program, and is anticipating launching a PhD program in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation in the coming months. The school has graduated successful physical therapists for more than 30 years. Faculty turnover is low, licensure pass rates are consistently high and the physical therapy program is ranked #15 in the United States by GraduatePrograms.com. We also have a state-of-the-art research laboratory and a University-based physical therapy clinic for education, service and research.
Minimum Requirements
Graduate of a CAPTE accredited program in Physical Therapy
Eligible for PT licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Earned PhD or equivalent academic degree from an accredited institution
Demonstrated excellence in teaching
Effective communication skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues
Identified research agenda and record of publications in an area complementary to the research strengths of the School.
Preferred Characteristics
Record of funded research and research publication in high quality peer-reviewed journals
APTA membership
Demonstrated leadership ability
Candidates with research expertise in basic science and clinical applications of Biomechanics, Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Neurology/ Neuro-rehabilitation, Orthopedics or Pediatrics are strongly encouraged to apply.
