A Senior Research Associate is sought to play a key role in the development of research in multi-scale modelling of bones/scaffolds and interfacial biomechanics within the research interests in the Biomechanics group at Portsmouth (http://www.port.ac.uk/mechanical-beh...-biomaterials/). The successful candidate will focus on the development of fundamental research tools in multi-scale modelling that would impact on projects of clinical interests on the frontier of orthopaedic research. The post holder will be responsible for the development of modelling strategies/algorithms for fundamental studies, whilst the translational values of the work will be explored through collaborations with partners for novel implant design and osteochondral tissue engineering.
You must have (or be close to obtaining) a PhD in a relevant branch of biomedical engineering, applied mathematics, or a similar engineering/physical science discipline and an enthusiasm for multidisciplinary research. A strong analytical and computational background and solid programming skills are essential. Previous experience in modelling biomechanical systems would be an advantage.
