Assistant/Associate Professor of Exercise Science
The Department of Exercise Science (http://www.highpoint.edu/exercisescience/) at High Point University is currently accepting applications for a 9-month full-time, tenure track, assistant/associate professor. August 2016 is the expected start date.
Responsibilities include: 1) teaching courses in the exercise science curriculum, specifically undergraduate biomechanics, exercise testing & prescription, and strength & conditioning; 2) developing and maintaining a research agenda; and c) provide service to the university, college, department, profession and community.
Qualifications and Experience: Qualified applicants must possess: 1) an earned doctorate in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, or a related field. ABDs near completion will be considered; 2) potential for excellence in teaching; 3) potential to establish a research agenda and peer-reviewed publications; 4) potential to support undergraduate research and creative works; 5) effective interpersonal communication skills; and 6) a willingness to embrace working in an inter-disciplinary atmosphere.
The Department of Exercise Science is one of 4 departments in the Congdon School of Health Sciences and offers a BS degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Strength & conditioning. The curriculum offers concentrations in: Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, and Health & Wellness. The Department currently has 8 full-time faculty and approximately 350 undergraduate majors. The department also shares state-of-the art laboratory space in the Human Biomechanics and Physiology Laboratory (http://www.highpoint.edu/healthscien...hysiology-lab/).
