Position description / Responsibilities
A post-doctoral position is available at the Department of Human Movement Science / Biomechanics at the Faculty of Sport Science of Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB) for the duration of 2 ½ years, starting from April 2016. The department’s research focusses on neuromuscular physiology of eccentric and stretch-shortening contractions and the phenomenon of residual force enhancement. Further, the department’s interested in better understanding the neural control and neuromechanics of multi-muscle, multi-joint contractions of the lower limb.
The successful post-doctoral candidate will participate in the department’s research and conduct human experiments. Further, the candidate is expected to contribute to the department’s development by writing grant proposals and publishing research in high quality peer-reviewed journals. The position also involves 4 hours teaching of undergraduate and graduate students per week.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD and a strong background in the fields of biomechanics / sport science, neuromuscular physiology, and/or sensorimotor neuroscience. Teaching experience and strong written and oral communications skills are necessary.
Desired Qualifications
Candidates with experience in human experimental work including dynamometer testing, electromyography, ultrasonography, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, and/or transcranial magnetic stimulation are especially encouraged to apply.
RUB seeks to increase the number of women in areas in which they are underrepresented. Therefore, we particularly encourage qualified women to apply. RUB further aims to hire more people with disabilities and also encourages them to apply for research positions.
Interested?
Please submit CV including list of publications and the names and contact information of two referees as well as a short research statement in a single (!) PDF file to daniel.hahn@rub.de. Application deadline: February 15, 2016.
