    The University of Dayton Department of Health and Sport Science in Dayton, OH is seeking applicants for a full time, tenure-track assistant professor in the area of health and sport sciences beginning August 16, 2016. Responsibilities include teaching, research, student advisement, leadership and service to the program, department, school, university and profession. Preference given to those who are able to teach in kinesiology, biomechanics, biostatistics, epidemiology, public health or healthcare management.

    Minimum Qualifications
     ABD in the health sciences by 5/15/16.
     Articulated ability to teach undergraduates in area of expertise.
     Articulated ability to advise undergraduate or graduate students in research projects.
     Articulated knowledge of and involvement in professional community.
     Demonstrated ability to conduct publishable research for peer-reviewed journals.
     Experience with university, school, department activities, or engagement in community or professional services.
     Effective written communication skills.


    Preferred Qualifications
     Earned terminal degree in the health sciences.
     Demonstrated expertise in kinesiology, biomechanics, biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, or healthcare management.
     Demonstrated ability to teach graduate students in area of expertise.
     Experience in curriculum and program review and program development.
     Clinical or industry experience in area of expertise.
     Experience in academic advising and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
     Record of scholarly productivity including publications and professional presentations.
     Demonstrated research agenda.
     Successful experience working in a collaborative environment.
     Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
     Willingness to engage in formal training and course design for online courses.
     Affinity for the values central to Marianist education including diversity and equity through their teaching, scholarship, and service as well as social justice.


    Application Instructions
    Candidates should submit a letter of application addressing qualifications, accomplishments, and interest in the position; a curriculum vitae; names and contact information of three current professional references; If terminal degree has not been obtained, a letter from your thesis adviser indicating status toward terminal degree – upload to “other document”; informal transcripts of all coursework in area of expertise. Additionally, candidates are required to submit two statements: 1) Description of Research Program; and 2) Philosophy of Teaching.
