    The Faculty of Health Professions at Dalhousie University invites applications for the position of Director, School of Health and Human Performance.

    Housed within the large and diverse Faculty of Health Professions, the School of Health and Human Performance offers undergraduate degrees in Health Promotion, Kinesiology, Recreation Management and Therapeutic Recreation, masters’ degrees in Health Promotion, Leisure Studies and Kinesiology, an online Certificate in Interdisciplinary Health Studies and is a partner in the new Faculty-based PhD in Health Program. Since 1966, the School has achieved and maintained a reputation for producing top graduates who contribute to their professions and communities. Its more than 20 faculty provide excellent teaching in small class sizes, are actively engaged in research, and linked to the professional community.

    Reporting to the Faculty’s Dean, the Director provides strategic leadership of the School in the areas of educational program delivery; assessment and accreditation; research; faculty development and evaluation; and human resource and fiscal management. The Director will demonstrate a commitment to interprofessional education and successfully engage the community with the School’s education, research and professional activities.     The successful candidate will be a proven professional leader with a demonstrated understanding of the research world, and of student teaching and education priorities within the rapidly changing university and health care contexts. A collaborative leadership style, strong mentorship and interpersonal skills, a creative and entrepreneurial spirit, and demonstrated skills in building relationships within communities both on and off campus are required, in addition to a doctorate and record of achievement in one of the School’s main fields. The Director will demonstrate excellence in teaching, research and administration, and will value and promote diversity, equity and inclusion within the School’s strategic planning and daily operations with students, faculty and staff.
