Position for Doctoral Student to Work on New NIH Funded Project:
"Improving Lateral Stepping Control to Reduce Falls in the Elderly"
The U. Texas Nonlinear Biodynamics Lab (http://www.edb.utexas.edu/khe/nbl/) anticipates having 1-2 funded positions available to start Summer / Fall 2016 to study the biodynamics and motor control of walking in healthy and fall-prone elderly. This will be a new project funded by NIH that will use advanced virtual reality-based experimental methods to examine how movement coordination and dynamic stability are regulated during walking.
I am looking to recruit 1-2 doctoral students to assist with this project. Strong computational skills (advanced mathematics (calculus, differential equations, etc.), physics, Matlab (or similar) programming experience) are required. Prior experience with computational analysis of human movement and/or biomechanical data (e.g., gait analysis) is strongly desired.
These positions will be fully funded for a minimum of 4 years.
