JOB SUMMARY

The research assistant position is responsible for supporting the Motion Analysis Coordinator in all matters related to research projects and service conducted on behalf of the Sports Surgery Clinic (SSC) including planning, execution as well as scientific publications and presentations. This is a full-time, position.

ABOUT THE SSC

The Sports Surgery Clinic is Ireland's leading private Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital.The Sports Medicine department is at the forefront of clinical and applied research in the field ofAthletic groin and anterior cruciate ligament injury and pain. The SSC has recently opened apurpose build 3D motion capture laboratory with indoor turf floor to assess athletic groin painand ACL injury. The laboratory sees over 500 Post ACL reconstruction patients and 800 athleticgroin pain patients each year.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

· Collaborate on research projects with department staff.
· Perform and oversee data collection; provide proper documentation and organization to ensure integrity and organization of collected data.
· Ensure a high quality of care toward every patient tested in the lab as well as data collection - undertake daily checks on force plates and motion capture cameras to ensure they are working efficiently and accurately
· Undertake basic research tasks as required.
· To continuously review procedures to identify improvement in our service

JOB REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s degree in sport science or a related scientific discipline required with prior work experience in biomechanical data capture.
· Analytic and decisive thinking with the ability to prioritize, manage time and tactics necessary to achieve institutional goals
· Must be adaptable to unexpected changes and possess strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills.
· Research experience and practical knowledge of research principles is required.
· Working knowledge of universal precautions and safety guidelines.
· Ability to handle confidential information.
· Ability to represent the SSC in a mature and professional manner.
· Translate the organization's vision and values into day-to-day activities, behaviours, and decisions.
