Band 7 - Ref: ECHP/SL/051/B7

An opportunity has arisen for two Clinical Scientists to join the SMART (Southeast Mobility and Rehabilitation Technology) Centre, Astley Ainslie Hospital, Edinburgh.

The SMART Centre (www.smart.scot.nhs.uk) provides highly specialised clinical rehabilitation technology services across the southeast of Scotland. You will, depending on their background expertise and service needs, work across one or two of the services including the Electronic Assistive Technology, Gait Analysis Laboratory and Wheelchairs & Seating. The proportion of time spent in each will be subject to change as service needs dictate at any one time.

You will work within multi-disciplinary teams, providing comprehensive clinical engineering advice, assessment, problem solving and design solutions for the range of patients that access on our services. You will also contribute as required to other SMART services as well as contributing to Quality Assurance and Risk Management functions. We are seeking highly motivated individuals who can apply engineering and scientific principles and knowledge in a clinical setting.

Candidates should be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist (Rehabilitation Engineering). *Applicants without HCPC registration may be considered for an initial appointment as a Trainee at AFC Band 6 with the expectation that they would work towards registration. Applicants without HCPC registration who responded to an earlier advert are required to reapply if they wish to be considered for appointment as a Trainee.
