PhD studentship (fee waiver): CHRONIC ANKLE INSTABILITY: investigating symptomatic neural behaviour and contemporary management.

    Project Description
Applications are invited for a full-time three-year PhD studentship at London South Bank University (LSBU) funded by the School of Applied Sciences to begin in September 2016. We are seeking an exceptional and enthusiastic person to join the researchers at the Sport and Exercise Science Research Centre (SESRC) at LSBU for a programme of training and research in the areas of human biomechanics, neurophysiology and health.

This project will investigate: i) the neurophysiological factors underlying chronic ankle instability, and ii) the potential for targeted neuromuscular electrical stimulation as an intervention modality for symptomatic persons. This studentship will be directed jointly by a supervisory team of researchers in neuro-mechanics and sensorimotor control (Dr Darren James, Dr Katya Mileva, LSBU) and a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon (Mr Matthew Solan, FRCS), and comes with a potential secondment to a collaborating laboratory in Switzerland.
