    Job Description


    The Biomechanical Engineer - Support Services is one of the few people of the company with which a customer may interact. As a representative of the company, the role requires a cool head when working with customers that can be highly demanding and with solutions that are technically challenging. The Biomechanical Engineer - Support Services is responsible for the continued success of our customers through ensuring quality of product support and customer training on Bertec equipment that is relevant for that specific customer’s needs. The role must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose system abnormalities remotely and in various professional customer environments including academic labs, medical clinics, and athletic training facilities. The role will provide reasonable fixes to understood issues while also coordinating the resolution of more complex product issues with engineering and product teams.

    As a champion of the customer within Bertec, the Biomechanical Engineer - Support Services is expected to understand the use of biomechanical equipment and to disseminate any new developments throughout the company.

    Successful applicants will have these skills


    • Ability to understand and explain complex systems
    • Ability to develop processes and standards to help improve Support Services department based on customer engagement
    • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
    • Commitment to representing Bertec professionally while interfacing with customers
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work and solve problems under a deadline
    • Analysis of large data sets in time and frequency domains
    • Experience coding in Matlab
    • Experience with CAD software
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products


    Principal Purpose of Job


    To manage and perform support for all Bertec’s products working directly with customers and supporting internal Bertec teams, e.g. sales and marketing.

    Work Environment


    Work will mainly be performed at Bertec HQ, but will require occasional customer visits. This includes domestic and international academic and commercial sites. Travel may account for up to 20% of this job.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Work with customers both remotely and on-site to diagnose equipment problems and provide support
    • Understand the needs of our customers and how equipment is being used in labs where work is performed
    • Track and log service and installation work


    Qualifications


    • Entry Level Role
    • Four-year degree in Biomechanical Engineering or relevant field
    • Experience in a biomechanics focused lab is preferred
