The Harvard Biodesign Lab at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering and the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Harvard University invite applications for an immediate opening on a research project focused on the evaluation of wearable robotic devices from a biomechanics and physiological perspective. Our group is developing soft wearable robots that are lightweight and pliable and can assist with locomotion by applying appropriately timed joint torques to the wearer. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger team and the data collected from human subjects studies will be used to advance the development of multiple wearable robot platforms in development. S/he will have access to state of the art equipment (Vicon MX-T40 cameras, AMTI OR-6 force plates in an over-ground walkway, a Bertec instrumented treadmill, Delsys Trigno surface electromyography system, and Cosmed K4b2 metabolic test system). The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the writing and running of IRB approved studies on healthy and patient populations and should have a strong background in statistics.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Movement Science, Physiology or related field and a proven track record of high quality publications. The candidates should have a strong interest in contributing to multidisciplinary teams (engineers, computer scientists, physiologists, bioengineers and clinicians) and will be expected to publish scholarly papers and attend international conferences, as well as take on a mentorship role for undergraduate and graduate students. Previous experience in human subjects studies with wearable robots is highly desirable.
