  • Postdoctoral Research Associate, Biplanar Videoradiography and Prosthetic Biomechanic

The Virtual Reality, Gait and Motion Analysis Laboratory at the Providence VA Medical Center is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Position. The postdoctoral associate will conduct experiments to develop the experimental and analytical tools to quantify the three-dimensional bone movement at the socket-residual limb interface in people with transfemoral amputations using biplanar fluoroscopy and optical motion capture techniques.

    The PVAMC
Gait and Motion Analysis Laboratory is equipped with a 14-camera Qualisys motion capture system, 2 AMTI force plates, a 16-channel Delsys EMG system and a Cosmed K4b2 system. The Keck Laboratory is a custom build biplanar videoradiography facility at Brown University. The Keck laboratory will be used to capture biplanar fluoroscopic data.

Candidates should have a PhD degree in biomedical engineering, biomechanics, motion science or a related field. Strong technical skills including experience with motion analysis, image analysis, instrumentation and Matlab programming skills are highly desirable. The position is scheduled to begin in June 2016 and is a two-year post-doctoral appointment. There is potential for growth within the VA system through career development awards.

Please submit a detailed CV, statement of research interests and contact information for three references to Dr. Susan D’Andrea (susan_dandrea@brown.edu). We will begin contacting applicants mid-late May. The position is open to US citizens only.
