Applications are currently open for International and Domestic applicants for PhD positions at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. Please note the closing date for International applicants is 31 Jul 2016 (if you are wising to apply for a scholarship), Domestic student applications close 31 Oct 2016. Please see http://www.mq.edu.au/research/phd-an...earch-training for more detail.
Please note these are competitive scholarships awarded to high-calibre applicants.
Currently we are recruiting suitable students, who obtain a scholarship as above, to work on part of a larger on-going project, in collaboration with Prof David Lloyd at Griffith University, investigating the effects of load sharing systems in Military personnel. Load sharing systems help to ease the burden of load carriage i.e., body armour, weapons systems etc. by re-distributing the load from the shoulders to the hips/waist. This project will develop and test prototype load sharing systems to determine the impact of these different designs on limb/joint loading. Kinetic and kinematic data will be collected and analysed using Vicon Nexus, Matlab, Python, and OpenSim; experience in data collection and analysis using any of these or similar would be an advantage.
As part of the university application process (http://www.hdr.mq.edu.au/information_about/how_to_apply) you must first contact a suitable supervisor. If the above research topic interests you please first contact Dr Tim Doyle directly (tim.doyle@mq.edu.au), before submitting your application so your suitability can be discussed.
The successful applicant would need to start early 2017.
Thank you.
Kind Regards,
Dr. Tim Doyle PhD
