Applications are invited for an interdisciplinary Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship in the Faculty of Kinesiology and the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary. With the launch of the Engineering Solutions for Health: Biomedical Engineering (BME) Research Strategy, the Vice President (Research) announced a funding initiative to jump start BIG initiatives in this coming year. These research initiatives involve ambitious interdisciplinary ideas, with far reaching potential, impact and the possibility for leveraging money over the years to come. We are pleased that our idea, ‘Sensor Technology in Monitoring Movement (STiMM) Program’ has been selected.
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work within this interdisciplinary group of established and emerging BME researchers consisting of engineers, biomechanists, data analysts, and healthcare experts. We expect the candidate to be of the highest calibre with a track record that would be competitive for national and international fellowships.
We are seeking a Research Fellow who has a PhD degree and expertise within electrical engineering and/or geomatics engineering and/or biomechanics. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in Machine Learning, or other advanced mathematical methods (e.g., Fractal Scaling Analysis, Neural Network, PCA) approaches to pattern recognition and identification of complex associations amongst different variables. Experience with wireless technology, such as 3D accelerometry, gyroscopes, and/or global positioning sensor (GPS) technology would be a significant asset.
Very good oral and written English skills are required and only exceptional applicants will be considered. As part of our commitment to producing world-class researchers, a professional development program will be provided to the Research Fellow along with campus‐wide programs of professional development.
