Special Young Researcher (tenure-track Assistant Professor) positions at Exercise Health and Technology Center, Shanghai Jiao Tong University: Shanghai, China
Exercise Health and Technology Center (EHTC) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) of China invites applications for Special Young Researcher (tenure-track Assistant Professor) positions in relevant fields. EHTC is a newly established interdisciplinary research institute at the main campus of SJTU, in accordance with national "population health" initiatives. From the perspective of exercise training and health promotion, EHTC takes advantage of the expertise in medicine, biology, engineering and management at SJTU, incorporating the cloud computing and big data to build a platform for health promotion. EHTC’s mission is to encourage students, teachers and communities to exercise for fun and improve their health through SJTU health program. EHTC’s vision is to build a national leading platform for exercise health with state-of-the-art technologies.
In line with international standards, the center is creating an open research environment and focusing rigorously in the scientific research process, which ensures that researchers could devote themselves to high-level research projects. In short, we adopt an "open, mobile, joint, competitive" principle. We emphasize the work of independent researchers and strive to be a home-like-center for young people to pursue ambition of research.
Requirements & Qualification:
The qualified candidates are required to: 1) set up a research platform: to break through cross-disciplinary researches, the cloud technology and big data technology are going to be used to plan structures to monitor physical fitness, exercise, nutrition, sleep, motivation and lifestyle; 2) research focus: to identify sensitive biomarkers for different types of exercise and obesity-related metabolic disorders using biotechnology, metabolomics and epigenetics platforms.
Qualification of the candidates: a minimum relevant postdoctoral or working experience of 3 years outside of China after a PhD training outside of China; or a minimum relevant postdoctoral or working experience of 4 years at outside of China after a PhD training in China. Individuals with research experience in the following areas and under 40 years old are particularly encouraged to apply and will be considered preferentially:
- Biomechanics
- Exercise physiology
- Exercise and sport medicine
- Exercise and metabonomics, genomics and proteomics
- Exercise and endocrinology
- Prevention of metabolic diseases and systems biology and bioinformatics
Compensation & Benefits:
SJTU offers a highly competitive salary and start-up package, including: 1) starting annual salary from 130,000 to 210,000 RMB, commensurate with experience and academic accomplishments; 2) a start-up fund of 120,000 RMB; 3) a housing subsidy of 300,000 RMB.
