Western Michigan University invites applications and nominations for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Exercise Science in the Department of Human Performance and Health Education.
Major Duties: Teaching graduate & undergraduate courses in exercise science including Biomechanics, Functional Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Foundations of Exercise Science, & Strength & Conditioning; advising student research; conducting research in biomechanics on how to prevent knee injury while running & squatting for normal population & athletes using 3-dimensional motion analysis; additional duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Minimum Qualifications: Earned Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Exercise Science or Kinesiology; Ph.D. dissertation in biomechanics.

Department: The Department of Human Performance and Health Education provides coursework and experiences which will allow students to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes conducive to their employment as professionals within the allied fields of athletic training, coaching, exercise science, health, physical education, recreation, and sports management. The department offers six undergraduate majors, six undergraduate minors, and six master’s-level graduate programs. Approximately 19 regular FTE faculty serve nearly 730 undergraduate majors, 200 undergraduate minors, and 160 graduate majors. The Department has a well-equipped exercise science laboratory that includes an environmental chamber, metabolic measurement systems, temperature and blood flow monitors, a stress testing system, a biochemistry area, and a 3D biomechanical analysis system.
