    Announcement of Faculty Position In Biomechanics in The School of Kinesiology at Auburn University – Auburn, AL (www.auburn.edu)

    Position: Assistant Professor, tenure track. We are seeking applicants with research and teaching expertise in Biomechanics.

    Qualifications: We seek applicants with expertise in Biomechanics who can lead his/her own innovative research program and interact with other faculty members to the benefit of the School of Kinesiology as a whole. Specialties may include performance biomechanics, motor systems biomechanics, health biomechanics, and basic biomechanics, among others.

    Required: Ph.D. or other terminal research degree in Kinesiology or related field. Evidence of potential in grant scholarship and external funding; solid publication record, and evidence of strong overall research potential. The candidate must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, workplace collegiality, and a history of success. Must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time appointment begins, and be able to continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

    Desired: Postdoctoral experience, University teaching experience. We seek candidates bringing a unique aspect of research to augment current faculty research interests.

    Responsibilities: Establish a successful research program leading to publications in premier refereed journals, presentations in national and international venues, and extramural funding; teach graduate and undergraduate classes in exercise science, particularly biomechanics; participate in curriculum development; recruit, advise, and train students in the M.S., and Ph.D. degree plans, including supervision of graduate research; perform School, College, University, community, and professional service.

    Starting Date: no sooner than January 3, 2017 and no later than August 16, 2017.

The School of Kinesiology (http://www.education.auburn.edu/kinesiology) is the sole occupant of a state of the art 58,000 square-foot building that contains 25 research laboratories, including designated biomechanics areas. Among the pertinent equipment available in the School are a 10 Vicon Bonita camera arrangement, 2 AMTI force plates with control capabilities through Vicon, Motion Monitor and/or Visual 3-D, EMG and EEG systems, and 2 near infrared spectroscopy systems. There will also be an attractive start-up package. Additionally, AU has a new MRI Research Center that contains a Siemens Verio open-bore 3T scanner for clinical and research use, and one of the first actively-shielded whole-body 7T MRI scanners in the US for research use.

    The University is located in the city of Auburn in east-central Alabama near several large metropolitan areas of Alabama and Georgia.
