A post-doctoral research associate position is now availableat the Sensory Motor Performance Program (SMPP) at Rehabilitation Institute ofChicago (RIC). The candidate willwork on project to improve balance and locomotorfunction in humans with spinal cord injury through robot-assistedtreadmill training. The candidate will participatein different projects using a custom designed cable-driven robotic gaittraining system. Opportunities alsoexist to interact in collaborative research with other engineering and neurosciencefaculty at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, and NorthwesternUniversity.

Candidates should have a PhD degree in Biomedical/Mechanical Engineering, PhysicalTherapy, Kinesiology, or a related field. A background in balance and locomotion studyis desirable and some experience working with human subject is a plus. The Sensory Motor Performance Program at the RehabilitationInstitute of Chicago is devoted to the study of musculoskeletal, neuromuscular,and sensory disorders that are associated with abnormal control of posture andmovement. Faculty members haveappointments in the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and inthe Northwestern University Engineering School. Approximately one hundred researchstuff-including faculty, post-doctoral research associates, graduate students,and support staff—make up a unique team of physicians, engineers,mathematicians, physiologists, and occupational & physical therapists forthe study of motor and sensory dysfunctions.
