    The Center for Neuromotor and Biomechanics Research (CNBR) in the Department of Health and Human Performance, University of Houston is looking for a highly motivated research assistant to be trained to pursue a career in rehabilitation technology.

    The CNBR is equipped with a 16 camera motion capture system (Vicon), a full-body, wireless, and wearable motion tracking (MVN BIOMECH), a 16 channel wireless EMG and IMU system (Trigno™ IM), a fully-instrumented dual belt treadmill equipped with one force plate underneath each belt, a computerized dynamic posturography system (Balance Manager), and several specialized equipment for the study of the neuromusculoskeletal system.

    The successful candidate will work with Dr. Beom-Chan Lee on projects related to rehabilitation science and technology for movement disorders. The candidate’s primary project encompasses an ongoing development of smartphone-based telerehabilitation technology and its effects on postural and gait performance in people with Parkinson’s Disease.

    Desired qualifications:
    • Bachelor or Master (preferred) degree in electrical and computer engineering or related fields.
    • Experience in smartphone programming, preferably for Android programming.
    • Experience in Java programming.
    • Experience with electronic prototyping.
    • Experience in designing PCB (Printed Circuit Board).
    • Strong interest in rehabilitation technologies and in-field studies.
    • Strong communication and English language skills (written and oral).

    The salary will depend on qualifications and experience.
