The Department of Physical Therapy Education at Elon University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position, made available because of retirement. The department of 14 full-time and 4 part-time highly qualified, dynamic faculty colleagues is interested in recruiting an individual who can demonstrate teaching experience in clinical biomechanics/kinesiology and musculoskeletal physical therapy. The successful candidate will also have an ongoing research agenda related to biomechanics, rehabilitation/movement science, and/or motor control. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentoring, scholarship, department and university service.
The successful candidate will have:
• An academic and/or clinical (physical therapy) terminal degree
• Residency or fellowship training or ABPTS certification in orthopedics or sports physical therapy
• A record of teaching in an academic program with the preference in the following content areas: movement science, pain and altered motor control, clinical biomechanics.
• Eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in North Carolina
• A minimum of 5 years of clinical practice in musculoskeletal physical therapy
• Active membership in professional organizations
Preferred candidates will also have:
• Demonstrated experience in research and scholarship
• Active leadership in a professional organization
The start date for this position is negotiable, with preference that the successful candidate start between January and June, 2017.
About the Department: In 2012, the Department of Physical Therapy Education (DPTE) moved to the LEED-certified Gerald L. Francis Center where the newly formed School of Health Sciences is located. The DPTE occupies approximately 32,000 square feet with state-of-the-art equipment for teaching and research. The DPTE and the School of Health Sciences enjoy a strong collaborative partnership with Cone Health-Alamance Regional Medical Center.
