The Biomechanics & Assistive Technology laboratory at Vanderbilt University is currently accepting applications for a postdoctoral researcher. The postdoc will contribute to multidisciplinary research projects at the intersection of human movement biomechanics and wearable assistive devices (exoskeletons and lower-limb prostheses).
Desired Qualifications: We are looking for a highly motivated candidate, with excellent technical and teamwork skills, strong written and verbal communication, and a track record of high quality publications. Candidates should hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Rehabilitation Engineering, Biomechanics, Mechatronics, or a related discipline. The postdoc will interact with clinical and engineering collaborators, mentor students, and work directly with Prof. Karl Zelik, who is committed to mentoring and facilitating career development, be it in academia or industry. The following skills are highly desirable: proficiency with human subject testing and biomechanical analysis (e.g., kinematics, kinetics, electromyography, muscle-tendon ultrasound), proficiency in mechanical design, experience in fabrication/prototyping of mechatronic systems, experience with wearable robotics and/or human factors design, proficiency with Matlab/Simulink, Visual3D, and/or Vicon Nexus.
