  • Postdoc Imperial College London: Biology & Mechanobiology of Joint Morphogenesis

The Developmental Biomechanics group is seeking to add a valuable new member to our research group. We are looking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on characterising cell and matrix level events leading to growth and shape change in the joint under normal or abnormal mechanical conditions. The project offers an exciting opportunity to apply histological and imaging processing techniques to a clinically relevant biomechanical research question. The Research Associate will be part of the exciting and world-renowned Department of Bioengineering at Imperial, based in the centre of the vibrant city of London.

The ideal candidate will start as soon as possible and make the most of this excellent opportunity. We especially value applicants from diverse backgrounds who can add new skills and expertise to our group. The group investigates the importance of mechanical forces for prenatal skeletal development using both experimental and computational techniques- more information on the group is available at http://nowlan.openwetware.org/. You must have a PhD in Biomedical Engineering or in Developmental Biology (or equivalent) for appointment at Research Associate level.

You will have previous experience working with the murine model system, and with imaging, histology and immunohistochemistry. You will be proficient with use of Matlab or a similar computational software. You will have main author publications in peer-reviewed journals, and a successful track record of presenting research as main author at international conferences. Experience with developmental model systems and with the musculoskeletal system are desired.
