The University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking to hire six (6) assistant professors to join the Prosthetic Interfaces Cluster (http://www.ucf.edu/research/prosthetics) in tenure track positions with a target start date of Fall 2017. The Prosthetic Interfaces Cluster will focus on fundamental and applied sciences in the study of biosensors and the body’s response to implanted device.
This is an interdisciplinary position involving the College of Medicine and the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and background in any of the following areas: brain-machine interface, biomechatronics, prosthetics and its interface with tissues and organs, and tissue and whole body responses to prosthetic devices. The latter includes prosthetic sensors, actuators, and material development, tissue and whole body inflammatory responses to prosthetic devices, short- and long- term physiological and biochemical responses to prosthesis implants, as well as artificial organ/tissue preservation. The selected candidate will have a strong desire to collaborate and develop novel technologies with scientists and engineers from other disciplines at UCF.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. from an accredited institution in an area appropriate to the cluster at the time of appointment. The candidate must have demonstrated record of high impact research, a strong scholarly record, and demonstrate the ability to establish and sustain a well-funded research program integral to the prosthetics interfaces cluster.
Application Information: Candidates must attach the following materials to their application: a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, research statement, and a list of at least three professional references complete with phone number and email address. In the cover letter candidates should address their background in their discipline and should identify the department(s) for their potential tenure home. In the research statement candidates should include descriptions of their successful interdisciplinary research collaborations and how their current and future research can contribute to the cluster’s overall interdisciplinary objectives.
