TECHNOLOGY CENTER TO PROMOTE HEALTHY LIFESTYLES
The Technology Center to Promote Healthy Lifestyles (TecHealth) at the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin in August 2017. Candidates are sought who will develop collaborative, multidisciplinary research and educational programs using digital health technologies (e.g., eHealth, mHealth, social media, wearables) to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce risk of disease. Scholars who focus on behavioral interventions which utilize technology as a platform to deliver or augment behavioral intervention programs, as well as those who consider the policy or economic implications of such interventions, will be considered responsive to this announcement. Emphasis areas within the TecHealth Center include obesity prevention and treatment and physical activity promotion, although individuals with established research portfolios in other lifestyle behaviors are encouraged to apply. Applicants with interests in eHealth/mHealth lifestyle interventions within minority populations are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have an earned doctoral degree in a field relevant to the position and evidence of scholarly research, the ability to obtain competitive funding to support a research program and to serve as an effective instructor and mentor. Although not required, completion of a postdoctoral research fellowship is strongly recommended. The successful candidate will have an academic appointment in the department within the Arnold School most closely affiliated with training and expertise. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and to mentor students in that department, as well as within the TecHealth Center.
