We are seeking to fill an opening for a postdoctoral fellow in the Hand Rehabilitation Laboratory, directed by Dr. Derek Kamper, in the UNC/NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering. Assignment will be at NC State University, but the Fellow will also have access to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The position will entail the study of wrist and hand neuromechanics, especially in regard to changes occurring following neuromuscular injury, such as that resulting from stroke, cerebral palsy, or Parkinson’s disease. It is anticipated that the Fellow will participate in development of novel instrumentation, experimentation, and dissemination of results. While funding is available for two years, the Fellow will be expected to define an independent line of research and apply for external funding as part of the training.
Candidates must have earned a doctorate in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Kinesiology, or a related field. We are especially interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas: mechatronic design, electromyography, modeling, and experiments with human subjects.
