  • PhD position in Muscle Physiology, University of Lausanne

We’re looking for a motivated PhD student to work on skeletal muscle adaptations to exercise. The research will involve working with cell cultures / mouse single fibers / mouse isolated whole muscles / human muscle biopsies and non-invasive experiments (voluntary contractions and electrical / magnetic stimulations while recording surface electromyography and muscle force) in humans.
We are particularly interested in the role of the ryanodine receptor type 1 in skeletal muscle adaptations to exercise in healthy and clinical populations (see Place et al. PNAS, 2015). We use a translational approach (from cells to patients) to investigate mechanisms underlying acute and chronic skeletal muscle plasticity.
