The Andrews Research & Education Foundation (AREF) is seeking amotivated professional to serve as the Associate Research DirectorBiomechanics. AREF is the research and education arm of the Andrews Institute. Allefforts of AREF are under the leadership of internationally renowned orthopedicsurgeon Dr. James Andrews. The goal of AREF’s research and educationalinitiatives are to provide evidence-based best practices for injury prevention,injury treatment, return to play or work rehabilitation programs, and increasedperformance. AREF’s programs provide service to a wide range of clienteleincluding athletes at all levels, the general population, physicians,rehabilitation professionals, health providers and injured warriors.
SUMMARYOF MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
The AssociateResearch Director: Biomechanics is responsible for the managementof the AREF research projects related to biomechanics including planning,development, implementation, evaluation, and publishing. This is a 12-monthsalary exempt position.
SpecificResponsibilities Include:
Primary supervision and management of fellows, physicians, and corporate partnerresearch projects related to biomechanics
Develop ownline of research that is related to AREF’s mission
Statisticalanalysis of research projects
Participate in grant proposal planning, negotiation andwriting
Report progress of research projects to fundingorganizations
Develop InstitutionalReview Board (IRB) submissions for biomechanical research projects
Work withclinical faculty in developing strategies and relationships for expanding andpromoting research
Manage day to day laboratory activities
Maintainlaboratory equipment
Other duties as assigned to support the essential functions ofthe position and operational needs of AREF
QUALIFICATIONSFOR POSITION: Summary of required and preferrededucation, experience, knowledge skills and abilities.
MinimalQualifications:MA(minimal) or PhD (preferred) in biomechanics
Experiencerunning and maintaining 3-D motion capture system, electromyography and forceplatforms
Proficiencywith common software used in statistical analyses, grant and journal articlesubmission
Experiencewriting and submittingapplications for Institutional Review Board Approval and grant procurement
Experiencewriting peer-reviewed scientific papers for publication and other technical writing
Strongbackground in research procedures including data collection management andstatistical analysis of biomechanical research
PreferredQualifications:Workexperience in a medical research and/or sports medicine setting
Successin peer-reviewed scientific paper publication
Successin grant procurement
Postdoctoralbiomechanics or movement analysis research experience
