    Applied Neuromechanics Research Laboratory

    Applications are invited for graduate research / teaching assistantships for students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Applied Neuromechanics through the Department of Kinesiology. These funded positions will assist with teaching in the Department of Kinesiology and assist with ongoing research with emphases on lower extremity injury risk. Individuals with a background in sports medicine, kinesiology, biomechanics, motor control, or related fields are invited to apply.

    The Applied Neuromechanics Research Laboratory provides research opportunities for faculty and graduate students in the masters and doctoral degree programs in Athletic Training, Applied Neuromechanics, Sports Medicine and Motor Control (http://kin.wp.uncg.edu/graduate/areas-of-study/applied-neuromechanics-research-group/phd-program/). Ongoing research includes:
    · Genetic and Hormonal Influences on ACL Function and Knee Injury Risk
    · Assessment of Ligament Quality and ACL Injury Risk
    · Biomechanical Factors of ACL Injury and Degenerative Cartilage Health
    · Influence of Rehabilitative Instructional Strategy on Neural Processing

    Applicants should have completed their master’s degree in an appropriate field of study, have the clinical expertise and research interests within the breadth of the laboratory research agenda, and be highly motivated to develop their independent research, writing, and presentation skills. Candidates with 2-5 years of clinical experience (PT, AT, etc) are preferred. The comprehensive plan of study will also provide experiences in teaching, mentoring undergraduate research, and grant writing.
