Background:The Department of Exercise Science at California Lutheran University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the assistant professor rank in the area of Applied Exercise Physiology to begin August 2017. Our campus has recently become a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and we are looking for candidates with a demonstrated commitment to and success working in diverse, multi-cultural and multi-racial communities. Cal Lutheran is home to more than 2,800 undergraduate and 1,350 graduate students who come from 61 countries and represent a variety of faiths. 49.8% of Cal Lutheran students are international students or from underrepresented groups (approximately 25% Latino, 5% Asian American, 4% multiracial, and 3% African American), and over 30% of freshmen are first generation students.

The Department of Exercise Science has three full time faculty members and offers a B.S. in the academic areas of Health Professions, Human Performance and Physical Education. We are especially interested in candidates who have expertise in working with students of color and can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching and service.
