  • PhD position (full scholarhip) at Victoria University, Australia

Project Title: Using Assistive Technologies to Augment Safe and Efficient Human Locomotion

The proposed PhD project will develop Assistive Technologies for enhancing knee joint function with two principal applications, (i) Health and rehabilitation: to assist individuals with lower limb injuries and neurological impairments to improve their gait. (ii) Physically demanding sporting and military occupations: augment human movement and reduce musculoskeletal stresses during sporting tasks and increase load carrying efficiency and safety in active combat, heavy-load logistics, and other load-bearing tasks in industry and emergency service occupations. The project will complement Victoria University’s research and innovation Program in Assistive Technology Innovation (PATI). PATI was formed as a joint collaboration between Victoria University, Defence Science Technology (DST) Group and The University of Melbourne.

Eligibility: Potential candidates must have an honours degree or Master by Research degree or equivalent preferably in engineering or a related discipline. Previous experience in assistive device will be an advantage. Previous publications and research experience are desired.

Application: Please fill in the application form (https://www.vu.edu.au/sites/default/...-Form-2017.pdf) and submit (as a single pdf including attachments) to researchscholarships@vu.edu.au
