    University Summary: The Department of Physical therapy at the University of Dayton invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank in the area of musculoskeletal physical therapy beginning July 1, 2017. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to or potential for teaching excellence, scholarly activity, and service at the university level.

    Responsibilities: Teaching in the areas of musculoskeletal assessment and intervention, orthopedics, sports medicine, and other areas as appropriate, management of associated faculty, ability to co-teach in one or more content area, student advisement, curriculum development and review, engagement in an active and productive research agenda, participation in department councils, and performing department and college service. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a research agenda with a record or potential for peer-reviewed publications and/or grant proposal development and other scholarly activity.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    · ABD in a physical therapy-related field;
    · Candidates must possess a physical therapy degree with eligibility for physical therapy licensure in Ohio;
    · One year of clinical experience;
    · Articulated teaching philosophy specific to instructing graduate physical therapy students in area of expertise;

    · Articulated scholarly agenda which would result in publishable research in peer-reviewed journals;
    · Effective written communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications:
    · Earned PhD (or equivalent) by December, 2017;
    · Athletic Training Certification (ATC);
    · Certification through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in orthopedics (OCS) and/or sports (SCS);
    · Specialist certification in strength and conditioning (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association;
    · 3 or more years full-time academic experience as a faculty member in an accredited Physical Therapist and/or Athletic Training Education Program;
    · Demonstrated ability to teach graduate students in area of expertise using traditional and active learning formats;
    · Experience in curriculum and program review and program development;

    · Experience in academic advising and mentoring of graduate students;
    · Record of scholarly productivity including publications and professional presentations;
    · Affinity for collaborative research;
    · Demonstrated scholarly agenda resulting in peer-reviewed publications;

    · Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative/collegial environment;

    · Effective oral communication skills;

    · Excellent interpersonal communication skills;

    · Affinity for the values central to Marianist education.
