The Biomedical Engineering Program within the Department of Civil, Environmental & Biomedical Engineering at the University of Hartford invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor to start in the Fall 2017 semester for its ABET-accredited program in Biomedical Engineering. An earned doctorate in biomedical engineering or related engineering disciplines is required, though persons nearing completion will be considered. The position requires a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service, and candidates should show a willingness and ability to employ technology in teaching. Effective written and oral communication in English is required. The successful candidate will be expected to: (1) teach sections of undergraduate courses in biomedical engineering senior capstone design, as well as engineering mechanics and other engineering sciences, (2) develop research related to bioinstrumentation, clinical engineering, and robotics, or related areas and disseminate the results of his/her research, (3) be comfortable teaching and advising projects related to clinical engineering, instrumentation, robotics, and mechanics, (4) contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching and service, and (5) be committed to working with diverse student and community populations. Candidates committed to encouraging underrepresented minorities in STEM disciplines are encouraged to apply. Additionally, there will be opportunities to teach in our innovative, interdisciplinary All University Curriculum.
The College of Engineering, Technology and Architecture, includes ABET-EAC accredited programs in Civil, Biomedical, Acoustical and Music Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Engineering. Additionally, the college offers ABET-ETAC accredited programs in Architecture, Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering Technology. Within the College, there are 51 full-time faculty and 1200 students. The Biomedical Engineering Program currently has over 90 students and eight full-time core and associated faculty members. The University of Hartford, an independent comprehensive university with seven constituent colleges, has over 350 full-time faculty members serving more than 6500 undergraduate and graduate students of whom about 4000 are in residence on the main campus.
